Saint George is a bustling community among the red rocks of Southern Utah with a population of 72,550 (2009 Census Estimate). It is the county seat of Washington County that has an estimated populateion of 137,000.
Saint George has convenient access to Zions National Park, the Virgin River and multiple state parks and BLM land.
The town was founded by Brigham Young in 1861 with hopes of growing cotton in Utah's Dixie. Saint George was named after George A. Smith (1817, 1875) who was a son of Joseph Smith, early Utah pioneer and apostle of the LDS Church.
